Tempered glass is a must-have for modern homes and commercial buildings in the Philippines due to its durability, safety, and aesthetic appeal. Before we dive in to the latest tempered glass price list, lets learn  first more about tempered glass, its type, use, and important in construction.

1 What is Tempered Glass?

It is also called “toughened glass,” is a type of safety glass processed through controlled thermal or chemical treatments to increase its strength. It is 4–5 times stronger than regular annealed glass and is designed to break safely into small, blunt pieces.

How is Tempered Glass Made?

  1. Heating & Cooling Process – The glass is heated to over 600°C and then rapidly cooled (quenched). This creates surface compression and inner tension, making it stronger.

  2. Chemical Tempering – Used for thinner glass, where ion exchange strengthens the surface.

2 Types of Tempered Glass

Different types of tempered glass are used in construction based on functionality and aesthetics:

1. Clear Tempered Glass

  • Standard option for windows, doors, and partitions.

  • Provides transparency while being impact-resistant.

2. Tinted Tempered Glass

  • Contains UV-blocking properties, reducing heat and glare.

  • Used in façades, car windows, and sunrooms.

3. Frosted Tempered Glass

  • Sandblasted or acid-etched for privacy.

  • Common in office partitions, bathroom windows, and decorative panels.

4. Reflective Tempered Glass

  • Has a metallic coating to reflect sunlight.

  • Ideal for energy-efficient buildings.

5. Laminated Tempered Glass

  • A sandwich of glass + PVB interlayer for extra safety.

  • Used in skylights, balconies, and hurricane-resistant structures.

6. Tempered Glass with Frames

  • Often combined with aluminum or steel frames for sliding windows and doors.

3 Uses of Tempered Glass in Construction

This versatile material used in various applications like windows, doors, glass railings, balustrades, partitions, office glass walls, and more.

1. Windows & Doors

  • Sliding glass doors, casement windows, and shower enclosures use tempered glass for safety and durability.

2. Glass Railings & Balustrades

  • Provides safety without obstructing views in balconies and staircases.

3. Partitions & Office Glass Walls

  • Enhances natural lighting while maintaining privacy (frosted options).

4. Skylights & Glass Roofs

  • Allows sunlight penetration while being weather-resistant.

5. Storefronts & Display Cases

  • Used in shops, malls, and museums for security and aesthetics.

6. Automotive & Furniture

  • Found in car windows, glass tables, and shelves.

4 Why is Tempered Glass Important in Construction?

1. Safety First

  • Breaks into harmless granules, reducing injury risks.

  • Required by building codes for high-risk areas (e.g., bathrooms, balconies).

2. Strength & Durability

  • Resists impact, wind pressure, and thermal stress.

  • Ideal for high-rise buildings and extreme weather conditions.

3. Energy Efficiency

  • Tinted and reflective tempered glass reduces heat absorption, lowering cooling costs.

4. Aesthetic Appeal

  • Offers sleek, modern designs for homes and commercial spaces.

5. Security Enhancement

  • Harder to break than regular glass, deterring burglaries and vandalism.

5 Factors Affecting Tempered Glass Prices

  1. Thickness – Thicker glass (10mm+) costs more than standard 6mm panels.

  2. Type of Glass – Clear is the cheapest; tinted, frosted, and laminated options are pricier.

  3. Customization – Unique shapes, sizes, and designs increase costs.

  4. Supplier & Brand – Prices vary between local glass shops and big retailers.

  5. Installation – Some suppliers include installation, while others charge extra.

It is important to understand what factors are included, excluded, and what considerations may affect the final cost. Below is a detailed breakdown to help you budget accurately for your construction or renovation project.

What’s INCLUDED in the Unit Price?

  1. Basic Material Cost

    • The prices listed cover the raw tempered glass panel per square meter (sqm) or per set (for pre-framed windows).

    • Includes standard clear, tinted, frosted, or laminated glass options.

  2. Standard Thickness Options

    • Prices account for common thicknesses (6mm, 8mm, 10mm).

    • Thicker glass (e.g., 12mm for extra strength) may cost more.

  3. Supplier Markup & Retail Pricing

    • Reflects retail prices from major suppliers like Wilcon Depot, GlassPro, and Condo Glass.

    • Bulk orders (contractors/builders) may get 5-15% discounts.

What’s EXCLUDED from the Unit Price?

  1. Installation Fees

    • Most suppliers quote glass-only prices; labor for installation is extra (typically ₱500 – ₱2,000/sqm).

    • Pre-framed windows (sliding/casement) may include basic mounting but not full fitting.

  2. Customization & Additional Treatments

    • UV protection, double glazing, or acoustic insulation are add-ons (+₱1,000 – ₱3,000/sqm).

    • Custom shapes (curved, oval) incur cutting and fabrication fees.

  3. Delivery Charges

    • Local transport (within Metro Manila) may cost ₱500 – ₱2,000, while provincial deliveries are higher.

  4. Taxes & Miscellaneous Fees

    • VAT (12%) is often not included in initial quotes.

    • Some suppliers charge extra for edge polishing or drilling holes.

Key Considerations When Budgeting

  1. Glass Type Matters

    • Clear glass is the cheapest; tinted/frosted adds 10–30% to the cost.

    • Laminated or tempered + laminated (for safety) is the most expensive.

  2. Frame Material Costs Extra

    • Aluminum frames add ₱1,500 – ₱4,000/sqm.

    • Stainless steel or customized designs increase the price further.

  3. Location-Based Price Variations

    • Prices in Metro Manila may be 5–15% higher than in provinces due to logistics.

    • Remote areas (e.g., Visayas/Mindanao) might have limited supplier options.

  4. Seasonal Promos & Discounts

    • Check for year-end sales (November–January) or contractor deals.

    • Some suppliers offer free installation for large orders.

Final Tip:

Always request a detailed quote from your supplier that breaks down:
✔ Glass type & thickness
✔ Frame material (if applicable)
✔ Installation & delivery fees
✔ Taxes and other charges

This ensures no surprises in your final bill!
